How to Get Rid of Gnats in Your Home

why am i getting so many gnats in my house

Keep the trap near soil level, as gnats rarely fly far from the compost. Avoid hanging the traps outside as you'll also trap butterflies and hoverflies. Eliminating troublesome gnat infestations starts with identifying gnats vs. fruit flies. Although gnats are difficult to control, a combination of store-bought treatments, DIY solutions and preventative actions can work in both your home and your garden.

So now that you know what gnats look like, the first step to getting rid of your gnat problem is to figure out the cause. As mentioned earlier, moist soil and overwatered plants are a prime breeding ground for gnats. Plus, fungus gnats are attracted to compost and even dead foliage. They typically lay their eggs in the soil of in-house potted plants. The presence of moisture and rotten leaves in the soil of indoor potted plants encourages the breeding of fungus gnats. Even if there’s no food present in your bathroom, flies and gnats may be attracted to this space because of its warmth and moisture buildup.

What Attracts Gnats and How To Minimize Their Presence

But keep in mind that this is no speedy solution, and certainly not enough on its own to deal with fungus gnats. Gnats lay eggs on the surface of the soil in pots, mostly near plant stems. They’re small, yellowish in color and it takes them three days to hatch. Since it’s so sticky, the goo keeps the eggs in place, not letting the water wash them down the drain. Once they hatch, larvae are surrounded by all the debris they can feed off of. One of the most common places you can find these bugs, moth gnats particularly, is in and around drains.

Avoid Overwatering Houseplants

This is one of biggest the hotspots for gnats, so pay extra attention to your kitchen sink and drain. Clean it (along with a garbage disposal if you have one) on a consistent basis, keep the area as dry as possible, and use a drain stopper overnight. The wet soil of indoor pots can create a breeding ground for gnats. So, take it easy on watering them or look into low-maintenance plants that require small amounts of water to thrive. Although they’re tiny, gnats can cause a great deal of annoyance inside your home. You may have noticed some floating around your fruit bowl or your favorite houseplant and wondered how they got there in the first place.

Insect Control

Bug zappers typically attract flying insects with a UV light, then trap and collect the small bugs. Most modern zappers are safe for indoor use, so you can plug one in adjacent to your gnat problem. Nobody likes to hear that they need to hire someone to come into your home, least of all for pest control, but it’s sometimes necessary. If you’ve put fruit traps all around the house and keep spraying gnats to no avail, it might be time to call pest control professionals. If your kitchen sink features a food waste disposer, it’s even more likely you’ll find gnats living inside, as that’s basically a Swedish table of organic matter for them. Fungus gnat larvae need damp compost to live, as this is where algae and fungi thrive, on which the larvae feed.

How to Get Rid of Flies in the House

To better understand why you have a swarm, you need to know their life cycle and where they’re laying their eggs. Fruit flies lay their eggs on the surface of, or directly beneath, the surface of the fruit. This will also become the food for the larvae before they complete their metamorphosis and become a winged adult. If none of these solutions seem to be working and the gnats keep returning, it may be time to call in a professional. A pest control company can help you tackle a serious or persistent infestation.

After the inside of the can has been thoroughly cleaned, the next step is to spray the cleaned surface with a 50/50 mix of water and white vinegar solution. Let sit for about 15 minutes, then wipe off with a clean cloth. Taker a look at our guide on what attracts a fruit fly to learn more about what they specifically go after. Here is another reason to be supporting your local organic farmers as often as you can.

Be careful with how much water you’re giving your plants, and make sure the soil drains well. Other species of gnats are attracted to overripe fruit and vegetables, according to Terminix's website. This explains why you often see fruit flies buzzing around the brown banana or mushy apple in your kitchen.

If you don’t have vinegar on hand, you can substitute red wine. Once indoors, gnats often infest trash cans, rotten fruit, and other moist places where decomposing organic matter exists. They can also be found near sinks, drains, and toilets, since they can reproduce in the grime inside pipes.

Take the right measures and you can do plenty to prevent an infestation of gnats in your home. Although fungus gnats and drain flies aren’t thought to be harmful to human health, that doesn’t mean they don’t cause a nuisance plus who wants them buzzing around? Fruit flies, meanwhile, can transfer germs compromising kitchen hygiene. Know the attractions and you can avoid or lessen the problem.

Mosquitoes are notorious for their blood-sucking proboscis and their bite. Midges are entirely harmless, have no sucking mouthparts, and are easily identified by their fluffy antennae. If the soil in or around your home tends to be overly moist, try letting it dry out more between waterings to discourage gnats and other pests from being attracted to it. Found throughout North America, fungus gnats, part of the Mycetophila genus, are typically the culprits for indoor gnat issues.

Their technicians will create a customized treatment plan for your home at a reasonable cost for pest control. There's nothing worse than unwanted insects inside your house. Imagine fruit flies buzzing as you cook dinner, fungus gnats hovering over your houseplants or nasty creatures lingering in your kitchen sink. These tiny, flying insects reproduce quickly, so it's important to take action immediately.

Similar places you can also find moth flies are air conditioner and refrigerator condensation drains. In this articles I’ll share with you, 5 of the most likely places to check for gnats and gnat eggs. You could also invest in an electric fly killer to catch the flies as they enter your home. Pests will be attracted to the ultraviolet light given out by the unit. When you know what attracts them in the first place, you can use that knowledge to reduce the number of gnats in your house, or even get rid of them completely. But the themes remain the same—guilt, obsession, vengeance, and a supernatural sense of justice. Roderick Usher’s children are getting what they deserve, not merely because they are the fruit of a very poisoned tree but because they have made horrific decisions to stay in the shelter of wealth and privilege. It turns out that almost every branch of the Usher family tree has been cut by violent horror.

Mary McDonnell as Madeline Usher

In the Roger Corman film from 1960, released in the United States as House of Usher, Vincent Price starred as Roderick Usher, Myrna Fahey as Madeline and Mark Damon as Philip Winthrop, Madeline's fiancé. The film was Corman's first in a series of eight films inspired by the works of Edgar Allan Poe. Like Madeline, Roderick is connected to the mansion, the titular House of Usher.

‘The Fall of the House of Usher’ Cast Guide: Meet the Actors Behind Edgar Allan Poe’s Usher Family

Loosely based on various works by 19th-century author Edgar Allan Poe (most prominently the eponymous 1840 short story), the series adapts otherwise unrelated stories and characters by Poe into a single nonlinear narrative set from 1953 to 2023. It recounts both the rise to power of Roderick Usher, the powerful CEO of a corrupt pharmaceutical company and his sister Madeline Usher, the firm's genius COO, and the events leading to the deaths of all six of Roderick’s children. It stars an ensemble cast led by Carla Gugino as a mysterious woman plaguing the Ushers, Bruce Greenwood as an elderly Roderick and Mary McDonnell as an elderly Madeline. This modern take on the Edgar Allan Poe story of the same name transports fans into the world of the Usher family, led by sibling duo Roderick and Madeline. Together, the twins have headed Fortunato Pharmaceuticals, establishing an empire of wealth, privilege and power — but at a cost.

Throughout the tale and her varying states of consciousness, Madeline completely ignores the narrator's presence. After Roderick Usher claims that Madeline has died, the narrator helps Usher entomb Madeline in an underground vault despite noticing Madeline's flushed, lifelike appearance. A storm begins, and Roderick comes to the narrator's bedroom (which is situated directly above the house's vault) in an almost hysterical state. Throwing the windows open to the storm, Roderick points out that the lake surrounding the house seems to glow in the dark, just as Roderick depicted in his paintings, but there is no lightning or other explainable source of the glow.

What’s more interesting is to watch how the fallout of their decisions fell on Roderick’s many children, all torn apart by some of Poe’s most memorable creations. English majors will likely know where some of the stories are going just by seeing the episode names. When the young and trendy Prospero Usher (Sauriyan Sapkota) decides to host an exclusive sex-and-drugs party at one of dad’s old factories in an abbey, readers of The Masque of the Red Death will know it’s going to be a gruesome scene. However, Flanagan is smart enough to shift the Poe narratives ever so slightly for a modern audience. His version of The Tell-Tale Heart is a modern gem, and “The Gold-Bug” is reimagined as a new brand for the Usher company.

Further, Roderick believes that his fate is connected to the family mansion. The House of Usher is a 2006 American drama thriller film based on the 1839 Edgar Allan Poe short story "The Fall of the House of Usher". Philip Winthrop (Mark Damon) travels to the House of Usher, a desolate mansion surrounded by a murky swamp, to see his fiancée Madeline Usher (Myrna Fahey). Roderick foresees the family evils being propagated into future generations with a marriage to Madeline and vehemently discourages the union. Philip becomes increasingly desperate to take Madeline away; desperate to get away from her brother, she agrees to leave with him. House of Usher will put a new twist on the short horror story by writer Edgar Allen Poe.

Roderick Usher (Bruce Greenwood) attends a joint funeral for a number of his adult children, and in a montage of press coverage, we see how a series of “freak accidents” has wiped out his entire bloodline. The Usher patriarch then sits in a dilapidated mansion with Carl Lumbly’s Auguste Dupin (based on Poe’s famous recurring character who is considered the first detective in fiction) and offers him a confession. We then flash back a few weeks to when the Usher clan were on top of the world, having become Sackler-esque billionaires peddling opiates that have inflicted untold misery on the American public, and begin to watch their painful demise. As Flanagan’s IMDB page grows, so does the Flanaverse, and the new Netflix’s series “Usher” is assembling what could be the biggest cast of Flanagan favorites of all time.

A second silent film version, also released in 1928, was directed by James Sibley Watson and Melville Webber. La Chute de la maison Usher is a 1928 silent French horror film directed by Jean Epstein starring Marguerite Gance, Jean Debucourt, and Charles Lamy. Flanagan finishes his Netflix contract on a high, gleefully capturing Poe’s magic, eerie romance and sense of dread. His shows have become the streaming service’s best offerings for spooky season, and it is hard to imagine how that void will be filled. It’s not perfect – the order in which the Poe family meet their fates is a case of diminishing returns, as its most intriguing members are dispatched too quickly.

In 1950, a British film version of The Fall of the House of Usher was produced starring Gwen Watford, Kay Tendeter and Irving Steen.

House of Usher (also known as The Fall of the House of Usher) is a 1960 American gothic horror film directed by Roger Corman and written by Richard Matheson from the 1839 short story "The Fall of the House of Usher" by Edgar Allan Poe. The film was the first of eight Corman/Poe feature films and stars Vincent Price, Myrna Fahey, Mark Damon and Harry Ellerbe. Usher has been reimagined as the head of a massive pharmaceutical company he runs with his twin sister, Madeline (Mary McDonnell).

As a parent himself, Roderick doesn’t fare much better, having six children by five different women who range from obnoxious hedonists (Napoleon and Prospero Usher) to despicable creeps (Frederick, Tamerlane and Victoria) to obnoxious, despicable hedonist creeps (Camille). The family is made up of Flanagan’s regular ensemble of actors, and to buy them as relatives requires a lot of suspension of disbelief, but for Flanagan fans, there’s great fun to be had seeing how these favourites fit into his new tale of terror. Ruth Codd (the highlight of The Midnight Club) plays Roderick’s much younger wife Juno, a former heroin addict whose life was turned around thanks to the drugs the Ushers peddle, while Rahul Kohli, Henry Thomas and Kate Siegel each take on a dastardly member of the Usher brood.

It is revealed that Roderick's sister, Madeline, is also ill and falls into cataleptic, deathlike trances. Meanwhile, Jill becomes intimate with Rick and tells him she has missed her period. In the meantime, Jill has discovered that the Usher family has practiced twincest for the past five or six generations, right down to Maddy and Rick. All the prior generations had twins, who later became a couple and birthed twins of their own and so on down the line to Maddy and Rick, who were to continue the Usher curse. After the main cast of Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy’s The Fall of the House of Usher was released on Thursday, Netflix has announced the full lineup of stars that will be joining Mark Hamill, Carla Gugino, Carl Lumbly, and more in the upcoming miniseries. From his arrival, the narrator notes the family's isolationist tendencies, as well as the cryptic and special connection between Madeline and Roderick, the final living members of the Usher family.

Late one stormy night, Roderick Usher (Bruce Greenwood) invites an investigator named C. He offers to lay out the truth about his family’s criminal, violent history. All of these nightmarish visions are attached to the family drama that Usher offers up for Dupin, giving the season a clever episodic structure in that each chapter intertwines a different Poe source into the overall saga of the Ushers. The narrator and Roderick place her in a tomb despite her flushed, lively appearance.

” “No, not before,” he replies in one of the show’s many glimpses of Flanagan’s viciously dark sense of humor. (Poe had one too.) Roderick has been haunted by all his awful children who have shuffled off this mortal coil, and it’s because it feels like the ghosts are finally coming for him that he is ready to confess. He’s having visions of monstrous ghosts, including the recurring specter of Verna (Carla Gugino), a figure that connects most of these tall tales as a sort of vengeful force of karma, the devil come to take what she’s due from a man who profited off the pain of others. Fearing that her body will be exhumed for medical study, Roderick insists that she be entombed for two weeks in the family tomb located in the house before being permanently buried. The narrator helps Roderick put Madeline's body in the tomb, whereupon the narrator realizes that Madeline and Roderick are twins.

In the tale's conclusion, Madeline escapes from the tomb and returns to Roderick, scaring him to death. During a heated argument with Roderick, Madeline suddenly falls into catalepsy, a condition in which its sufferers appear dead. Roderick knows that she is still alive, but convinces Winthrop that she is dead and rushes to have her entombed in the family crypt beneath the house. As Philip is preparing to leave following the entombment, the butler, Bristol (Harry Ellerbe), lets slip that Madeline suffered from catalepsy. Roderick has come from a miserable childhood with a puritanical, sickly mother who believes that “pain and suffering are the kiss of Jesus”.

Carl Lumbly as Detective C. Auguste Dupin

The narrator also notes that Madeline's body has rosy cheeks, which sometimes happens after death. Over the next week, both Roderick and the narrator find themselves increasingly agitated. Jill Masters (Izabella Miko) has not seen or heard from her ex-lover, Roderick "Rick" Usher (Austin Nichols), or her best friend (Rick's twin), Madeline "Maddy" Usher (Danielle McCarthy), for three years. Her love affair with Rick is rekindled as she learns he suffers from the same malady that robbed his twin sister, Maddy, of her sharp mind before taking her life. His affliction is manifested in a rare nerve condition, which renders him hypersensitive. Under the watchful eye of the caretaker, Nurse Thatcher (Beth Grant), Jill appears to be haunted by Maddy's ghost.

Mark Hamill

Some of the CGI, particularly one scene involving bodies falling from the sky, is unintentionally funny. Problematically, Flanagan tends to conflate queerness with depravity and sexual fluidity is punished here with an unnerving flourish. But the show remembers to be actually scary, with truly inspired uses of chimps, mirrors and sprinkler systems. There’s no question that The Fall of the House of Usher ranks among Flanagan’s finest works. Sliding through it all is the mysterious man who works as a sort of fixer for the Ushers, Arthur Pym (Mark Hamill), totally reimagined from the title character in Poe’s only complete novel, The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket. The Fall of the House of Usher is an opera composed by Peter Hammill with a libretto by Chris Judge Smith released in 1991 on Some Bizzare Records; in 1999, Hammill revised his work and released it as The Fall of the House of Usher (Deconstructed & Rebuilt).

When one steps back and looks at the whole narrative of the season of “The Fall of the House of Usher,” it sags in places. Most of the flashbacks to a young Usher and Dupin are thin, especially compared to the wicked fun on display in the fates of the Usher children. It feels like padding to get episodes to a full hour when Flanagan and company could have leaned even more into the episodic structure that highlights a single Poe per chapter. However, it's an incredibly easy show to enjoy on an episode-by-episode basis, largely because Flanagan’s direction is sharp throughout, including excellent use of music and tight editing—some scenes are too underlit, but that’s just the Netflix brand nowadays, and I’m done fighting it.

The narrator then runs from the house, and, as he does, he notices a flash of moonlight behind him. He turns back in time to see the Moon shining through the suddenly widened crack in the house. As he watches, the House of Usher splits in two and the fragments sink away into the lake.

Roderick eventually declares that he has been hearing these sounds for days, and that they are being made by his sister, who was in fact alive when she was entombed. The narrator is impressed with Roderick's paintings and attempts to cheer him by reading with him and listening to his improvised musical compositions on the guitar. Roderick sings "The Haunted Palace", then tells the narrator that he believes the house he lives in to be alive, and that this sentience arises from the arrangement of the masonry and vegetation surrounding it.

Cast & Crew

During one sleepless night, the narrator reads aloud to Usher as eerie sounds are heard throughout the mansion. He witnesses Madeline's reemergence and the subsequent, simultaneous death of the twins. The narrator is the only character to escape the House of Usher, which he views as it cracks and sinks into the mountain lake. The bedroom door is then blown open to reveal Madeline, bloodied from her arduous escape from the tomb. In a final fit of rage, she attacks her brother, scaring him to death as she herself expires.

Mike Flanagan

Frank Langella will star as the Usher patriarch, Roderick, with Mary McDonnell as his sister, Madeline. Hamill and Gugino’s roles have yet to be revealed, but Lumbly will play the legendary Poe investigator, C. The Martian Chronicles, a 1950 collection of stories by Ray Bradbury, contains a novella called "Usher II," a homage to Poe. Its main character, William Stendahl, builds a house based on the specifications from Poe's story to murder his enemies.

Alongside his favoured players is Mark Hamill as an unfeeling lawyer/fixer for the Usher family who sounds as if he gargles a pint of nails every morning. But as we know from the start, there’s no point in getting overly attached to them, as grisly fates are assured for all. It’s not so much the “what” as the “why” that the audience and Dupin need to be answered. In 1979, Italian state channel RAI loosely adapted the short story, together with other Poe's works, in the series I racconti fantastici di Edgar Allan Poe.[33] It was directed by Daniele D'Anza, with Roderick Usher played by Philippe Leroy; music was composed by pop band Pooh. As the narrator reads of the knight's forcible entry into the dwelling, he and Roderick hear cracking and ripping sounds from somewhere in the house.

In November 2023, Roderick Usher, the CEO of pharmaceutical company Fortunato Pharmaceuticals, loses all six of his children within two weeks. Auguste Dupin, an Assistant United States Attorney who dedicated his career to exposing Fortunato's corruption, to his childhood home, where he tells the true story of his family and unveils the Ushers' darkest secrets. The first two episodes of The Fall of the House of Usher premiered at Fantastic Fest in September 2023 before the Netflix release the following month, being viewed more than 13 million times in its first two weeks. It was met with positive reviews, with critics praising its production values, directing, and performances (in particular from Gugino, Greenwood and Mark Hamill), although they were divided on its narrative, notably in relation to the source materials. The Fall of the House of Usher is an American gothic horror drama television miniseries created by Mike Flanagan. All eight episodes were released on Netflix on October 12, 2023, each directed by either Flanagan or Michael Fimognari, with the latter also acting as cinematographer for the entire series.

When the dragon's death cries are described, a real shriek is heard, again within the house. As he relates the shield falling from off the wall, a hollow metallic reverberation can be heard throughout the house. At first, the narrator ignores the noises, but Roderick becomes increasingly hysterical.

How Much Does It Cost to Build an A-Frame House?

framing house

Start by applying wood glue to the tops of the joists in one corner of your floor, then place your first plywood sheet on top of them. Then, screw the sheet to the joists below it with wood screws and move on to the next space. You need to cover the entire perimeter of the foundation with mudsills before moving on, and each mudsill should be directly touching the one you placed before it and the one you place next. This will probably require you to cut a few of your sills down to size as you go.

$1,000 – $12,000 small project or home-addition framing cost

It’s recommended to use half-inch panels to give the structure more strength. House framing gives home support and shape and provides the shell for the outer coverings. The primary considerations of a builder, when selecting a framing material, take into account the project’s initial material and labor costs and the long-term expenses to the homeowner. Advanced house framing, also called "optimum value engineering" (OVE), is a technique that reduces the amount of lumber needed to frame a house. OVE can save up to $1,000 in material costs and 3% to 5% in labor costs compared to standard framing. A corner assembly consists of two or three studs nailed together in an L shape to form a rigid corner where framed walls meet.

Dave & Buster’s to allow customers to bet on arcade …

When blocks are installed in a row at the midspan of the joists and run the entire length of the building, they are called bridging. Blocking can also be installed between wall studs to make it easier to support such things as handrails, towel bars, and cabinets. Once you’ve erected all your exterior wall panels, you can frame the interior walls. With the wall up in position, drive 2-by-4 stakes in the ground and provide temporary supports anchored to the wall studs and stakes. Duplex nails used for constructing foundations are good for this step, as they can more easily be pulled later.

Step 4: Attach Tie Beams and Ceiling Joists

To protect the inhabitants of our houses as well as the people who build them, houses are built according to a set of rules called building codes. These codes spell out the minimum requirements for most aspects of building a house. Code stipulates the size and grades of the lumber and fasteners that go into the frame as well as how the frame should be assembled to handle all the forces that affect it. Building according to code is your assurance that the house will be strong and safe. A partition backer is an assembly of three studs nailed together into a U shape.

ICF Wall System: the Best Choice for a House Framing Product

A-frame cabin kit prices start at around $10,600 and can quickly reach costs of $100,000 or more, depending on size. Cabin kit starting costs often only include the basics, such as a shell or walls. Keep in mind that the sloping sides of an A-frame home usually don’t have windows, but large windows in the front or back of the house can let light into the space. Talk to a general contractor near you to learn more about A-frame window installation. To live more sustainably or to reduce your reliance on the grid, you can go solar; installing solar panels costs between $18,000 and $35,000. For water, if you don't want to use the town's main line, you may be able to drill a well, at a cost of $1.500 to $12,000.

When built into a wall, the backer creates a stiff column to which an intersecting wall can be attached. The legs of the U stiffen the backer stud and provide a nailing surface for interior wall finishes. Cut all your studs down to the same size (however tall you want the wall minus the width of your top and bottom plates), and lay out two on opposite ends of the bottom plate you’ve marked. Then, take a piece of your lumber that’s the exact same length as your bottom plate and lay it on the other end of the studs. You’ll need as many studs as 16-inch markings you made on the bottom plate, plus two for the ends. For example, if your bottom plate is 84 inches long, you’ll need 7 studs to construct the wall panel.

Keep in mind that the price can vary wildly depending on the framing method, the company, and the materials you choose. Finally, you can attach your roof sheathing and install your roof shingles. This process completes the house framing, although you’ll still need to add exterior wall material and roofing material.

framing house

Angled framing members that create the shape of the roof are called rafters. They support the weight of the roof sheathing and the roofing material and channel the loads to the exterior walls. The board that joins the ends of the rafters at the peak is called the ridge. It is often made of 2× lumber but can be made of other materials. A structural ridge is supported by posts and helps carry the weight of the roof.

At the very least, you'll need to hire an electrician and find a good plumber. On the other hand, if you've hired a local general contractor or a construction manager, they'll hire their own pros, so you won't need to worry. If you’re going with a spec or tract home, you may not have many choices in paint color, but if it’s a custom home, you could have your choice of colors, or even have wallpaper put on the walls. The sheathing for the roof is generally done when the exterior sheathing is attached to the walls. Wood framing materials cost less, but steel framing is more durable. Framing costs $11 to $30 per square foot on average for labor and materials, depending on the project size, layout, and the choice of wood or steel. The 2×4 or 2×6 vertical members of both exterior and interior walls are known as studs.

The cost to frame a wall is $1,000 to $5,000 on average, depending on the wall size and the stud spacing. The average labor cost for framing is $7 to $13 per square foot, depending on the house size, design, and foundation type. Labor costs are on the higher end of the range to frame a house with a crawl space, basement, or second story.

If an enemy jet plane is approaching at over 3,000 km/h(2,000 mph),the radar beam needs to travel much faster than this to reach theplane, return to the transmitter, and trigger the alarm in time. That'sno problem, because radio waves (and light) travel fast enough to goseven times around the world in a second! If an enemy plane is 160 km(100miles) away, a radar beam can travel that distance and back in lessthana thousandth of a second. The meeting was expected at the airport, an option meant to be the least taxing for local law enforcement still reeling from the deaths but who would have a hand in securing the president’s trip. One place radar isn't used is to help submarines as theynavigate underwater. Electromagnetic waves don't travel readily through dense seawater (that's why it's darkin the deep ocean). Instead, submarines use a very similar system called SONAR (Sound Navigation And Ranging), which uses sound to "see"objects instead of radio waves.

Sensitiveelectronic equipment in the radar gun uses this information tocalculate how fast your car is going. An airplane's radar is a bit like a torch that uses radio waves instead of light. The planetransmits an intermittent radar beam (so it sends a signal only part ofthe time) and, for the rest of the time, "listens" out for anyreflections of that beam from nearby objects.

That means funding them - so they have the resources they need to do their jobs and keep us safe. And it means taking additional action to combat the scourge of gun violence. Leaders in Congress need to step up so that we ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, require safe storage of guns, and pass universal background checks and a national red flag law.
